The OSU Symphony Orchestra, opens its concert season with the most cherished Spanish masterpiece in the concerto repertoire featuring Cuban-American star pianist Orlay Alonso. The Concert explodes with de Falla’s magical three movement “symphonic impressions” for piano and orchestra.
Orlay Alonso’s thrilling “rock solid performances” have no parallel, his “communicative gifts” have long captivated audiences “keeping the listener’s imagination stimulated at all times.” His strong feelings for Spanish music display a contagious joy. He “truly knows how to relish the playful exchange between piano and orchestra” (The New York Concert Review). To experience his performance of de Falla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain will be like hearing it for the first time for music lovers. He is known for his passionate performances ranging from his devilish and barbaric side to a remarkably tender and melancholy color palate at his disposal.
